My Portfolio
Samples of creative fiction, essays, and research I have done.
Welcome! Below are just a few samples of my work. Ranging from tales of modern boyhood to death in Antiquity, I have reached out across time and space in order to create environments and topics that keep readers enticed, and always curious about the world around them. If you are potentially interested in reading any of my other pieces, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Festival
October 2016
Festival is a short story which tackles elements of dystopian society and alternate history in a compelling start to a tale of revolution, revelation, and retribution. Someday, I hope to revisit this piece and flesh it out into a novel. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the sample below.
Nonbinary Nuance
April 2017
To express oneself is one thing. To describe oneself to others is another thing. Linguistic conventions, for some, has been a long-time challenger to the societal acceptance of gender expression, and in this essay I explore how the nuances within language complicate expression, and begin to explore ways in which this can be overcome.
Funerary Practices of Ancient Rome
February 2015

In this essay, I explore the Pagan funerary customs of Ancient Rome prior to its Christianization, and explore traditions which have persisted into the modern day. I was fortunate enough to present my reseach at DePaul University's Honors Research Conference in 2015.
Québec Business Spotted in The Midwest: Lolë
May 2015
During my internship at the Québec Government Office in Chicago, one of my assignments was to seek out and document new Québec-based businesses in the Midwest region. For this article, I highlighted the opening of Lolë, a women's athleisure boutique that had just opened its doors on Chicago's Southport Corridor.
What's In a Word? Tips on Finding The Right Voice
September 2017
Stumped on what to do next? Whether a contracted project or a personal piece, I have certainly had my own fair share of struggles in trying to find and maintain a particular voice. As part of the public release of The Creative, a blog for freelance writers and designers, I wrote an advice piece for writers and designers like myself who might have had to ask the question, "What's In a Word?"
